Where the industry comes together: the Wind Industry Day in Schleswig-Holstein

With 800 registrations, the organisers recorded a record attendance for the 2026 Wind Industry Day. No wonder: the entire industry came together here – from politicians and trade associations to project developers and direct marketers – thereby demonstrating the event’s relevance to the sector.

April 2026

Under the theme “Between Politics, the Grid and the Market – The Future of Wind Energy”, the Wind Industry Day served as a key platform for discussion. Among other things, the discussion focused on the need to make greater use of flexibility within the energy system – for example, in relation to grid connections – and to utilise the grids more efficiently overall – for instance, by developing grid interconnection points. In this context, the speakers and the audience called for reliable and predictable political framework conditions, as well as the removal of bureaucratic hurdles.

Schleswig-Holstein as a pioneer, with an eye on national politics

Tobias Goldschmidt, Minister for Energy Transition, Climate Protection, Environment and Nature in Schleswig-Holstein, emphasised the region’s pioneering role: “The energy transition in the state of Schleswig-Holstein is advancing at a rapid pace, and wind power is at the heart of our journey towards becoming a climate-neutral industrial state. (…) The fact that we are in such a strong position today is no coincidence, but the result of forward-looking, citizen-focused energy policy. By bringing all stakeholders together regularly, as we are doing today, the energy transition has become a genuine Schleswig-Holstein project.” At the same time, he issued a clear appeal to federal policymakers: “In Berlin, too, the focus must finally turn back to the future, rather than artificially prolonging the use of fossil fuels with one crutch after another.”

Speakers such as BWE Chair Bärbel Heidebroek and Marcus Hrach, Managing Director of the LEE.SH association, also emphasised the need for reform at federal level to secure expansion targets in the long term.

Vattenfall Energy Trading at the Wind Industry Day

For us, the Wind Industry Day is one of the most important regional industry events for wind energy, and it has fully confirmed its role as a leading networking platform for market players. We held many productive and in-depth discussions with market partners, as well as with new prospects and existing customers – the focus was on direct electricity marketing, current market requirements such as fixed prices, and operational challenges such as redispatch. Naturally, future political developments such as the new EEG 2027 and the EnWG were also discussed.

Our conclusion: We’ve taken away a lot of valuable insights from the policy and market presentations, which we’ll incorporate into our ongoing dialogue with our customers, and we look forward to attending the next Wind Industry Day.
