Main task and responsibility

The key tasks of the approximately 500 employees in Markets include optimizing and safeguarding Vattenfall's renewables such as wind farms, solar plants, hydropower plants and other generation assets, as well as our customers' portfolios along the entire value chain.

We help industrial customers and municipal utilities to set up their energy needs in a more climate-efficient way. We bundle and optimize our customers' wind and solar power, as well as that from our own wind farms, and market these volumes. We then supply the green electricity to industrial customers in various sectors, for example, who can reduce their CO2 footprint in this way.

We use our customers' battery storage systems on the balancing energy market, helping the grid operator to balance out electricity fluctuations. We procure fuel, biomass and climate certificates for Vattenfall and customers. We also provide access to all major energy trading markets. Companies without their own market access can procure electricity or gas through us.

Our main locations are Hamburg and Stockholm, and we also have offices in Amsterdam, London and Copenhagen - and are active throughout Europe.
